It’s been a tense few days for fans of Michigan basketball as news surfaced that John Beilein was flirting with other opportunities, going so far as to interview with the Detroit Pistons. On Wednesday afternoon though, the head coach announced on Twitter that he will be staying in Ann Arbor.

Matthews left off NBA Draft Combine invite list

Charles Matthews declared for the NBA Draft on April 20 without hiring an agent, giving him the opportunity to return to Michigan after testing the waters at the pro level, or go forward in pursuing a professional career. One big advantage to that approach can be the opportunity to participate in the NBA Draft Combine, but Matthews was not included on the official list of 69 invited players released on Monday.

Matthews declares for NBA Draft without hiring agent

Michigan got one year of Charles Matthews on the court and that might be where his story ends as a member of the Maize and Blue. On Friday, the program announced that Matthews has declared for the NBA Draft, but that he will not hire an agent in order to maintain his amateur status.
