Michigan football has announced the starting time for its first and last games of the 2012 regular season. The Wolverines will open the season on Sept. 1 in the Cowboys Classic matchup against Alabama in Arlington, Texas.

With seven of the top 10 reception leaders from last season gone in the conference, including all of the top five, this season shapes up to be a very down year at the wide out position. Michigan has announced the next recepient of the No. 21 jersey, which is meant to honor Desmond Howard and his 1991 Heisman Trophy campaign. The Wolverines revealed that senior receiver Roy Roundtree would take possession of the jersey heading into the 2012 season.

While the quarterback position within the conference can be well defined by major losses, the opposite is true at running back, where nearly all of the conference’s top players return. While Monte Ball is the obvious No. 1, the competition for the remaining spots is much tighter.
