While Michigan was coming off a loss to Penn State heading into a matchup with another top-10 opponent, the Wolverines performance in that comeback effort gave fans hope that team had found a missing spark. That certainly appeared to be the case against Notre Dame Saturday evening, as the Maize and Blue seized control early, hammering the Fighting Irish 45-14.

Giving up three touchdowns in under 14 minutes in the first half at Penn State, the Wolverines had their work cut out for them in order to make a comeback. Making a show of it right up to the final moments, a game-tying pass attempt on fourth down fell to the ground, sending Michigan home in defeat 28-21.

One of the toughest things to do in a road game is to reclaim lost momentum, but the Wolverines managed to do exactly that in a weird back-and-forth brawl with Illinois on Saturday. Leading by as many as 28 points in the first half, Michigan gave up 25 straight to the Fighting Illini before forcefully reasserting control and claiming a 42-25 victory.

While Michigan came away with a win over a top-25 opponent Saturday, downing Iowa 10-3, the performance left many fans concerned about the progress of the Wolverines' offense, which managed just 267 total yards.
