Michigan’s penchant for quickly responding to opponent runs met its match on the road Friday evening at Iowa, as the Wolverines picked up just their second loss of the season. The raucous crowd at Carver-Hawkeye Arena helped propel the home team to 16-2 stretch over five minutes in the middle of the first half, creating a deficit from which the Maize and Blue failed to recover.

Struggling with foul problems from early in the game, the Wolverines attempted to mount a comeback in the second half, climbing to as close as a five point margin. But just as soon as U-M appeared to be back in the game, Luka Garza took over, scoring eight points in an 11-2 Iowa run.

Falling 74-59 in the contest, Michigan was led by Iggy Brazdeikis and Jordan Poole, who each scored 16 points. Zavier Simpson followed his triple-double performance against Ohio State with another strong showing, registering 10 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.

Falling to 20-2 on the season, the Wolverines will stay on the road on Tuesday, playing at Rutgers at 8 p.m. eastern on Big Ten Network.
