Junior defensive end Rashan Gary revealed on Monday that he will not return for another year at Michigan, announcing his intentions on social media to declare for the NFL Draft.

“I would like to thank my higher power, my family, the University of Michigan, the students and the fans, but I’m going to be forgoing my senior season to make a dream come true to declare for the draft,” Gary said in a video announcement. “Thank you. Go Blue.”

Rated as an elite prospect out of high school, Gary made 136 tackles in his Michigan career, including seven for a loss and three and a half sacks.

His announcement did not include details on his plans to play in the Wolverines’ bowl game, only specifying that he will not return for his senior year. In recent years, a number of high profile NFL prospects have elected to sit out their final game, though that has not yet happened at Michigan.
