U-M grabs surprise commitment from Pesek-Hickson

Seeing the success that true freshmen Ronnie Bell, a one-time basketball prospect, has had on the gridiron, Jim Harbaugh decided to go a similar route, picking up a commitment on Saturday from Leawood (Kans.) Blue Valley North athlete Amauri Pesek-Hickson.

Playing football as a freshman, before exclusively focusing on basketball for the next two years, Pesek-Hickson is not a well-known name in football recruiting circles. The 6-3, 210 pound athlete returned to the football field as a senior though, and his play was enough to convince the Wolverines to jump with a scholarship offer.

Playing running back and safety as a senior, he racked up 1,158 all-purpose yards and 14 touchdowns, including 76 runs for 563 yards and 38 receptions for 959 yards.

Pesek-Hickson’s announcement brings Michigan to 25 commitments for the 2019 recruiting class.
