Stephen Herron Jr. was one of Michigan’s first commitments for the 2019 recruiting class, announcing almost exactly a year ago that he would play for the Maize and Blue. On Monday afternoon, the Louisville (Ky.) Trinity defensive end announced a change in plans, flipping his commitment from Michigan to Stanford.

“Coach Harbaugh, Coach Mattison, Coach Brown and the entire Michigan coaching staff and crew, I will forever be grateful for your support and the opportunity you afforded me,” Herron said on Twitter. “To the Wolverine fans, thank you for going above and beyond in support of my football dreams and my philanthropic endeavors - you are a class act and I will always cherish the friendships that were made!”

The Wolverines currently have 18 verbal commitments for the 2019 class.
