Video: York steps up in victory

Michigan wide receiver commitment Csont’s York of Harper Woods Chandler Park Academy had a solid showing on Friday evening, helping to lift his squad to a 56-6 victory over Romulus Summit Academy. The 6-2, 185 pounder had two touchdown receptions, two catches for two-point conversions, and scored on a long punt return.

Despite the success he found, he felt he had areas of improvement in assessing his own game.

“I dropped a couple passes and I’ve got to get better at that, but I think I did real good,” noted York. “I need to improve my short routes and I need to catch the ball instead of just looking down the field all the time worrying about the touchdown.”

A week ago, Chandler Park Academy traveled to Ohio, where they faced New Philadelphia and suffered a 56-14 defeat. Being on the right side of the blowout this weekend, the Eagles pulled to 1-1 on the season.

“It feels real good, because last week was not pretty,” explained the young wide receiver. “Our quarterback, he stepped up and threw a couple good passes. Most everybody was off last week, but stepped up big-time in the game.”
