Erik Bakich named new baseball head coach

The University of Michigan announced on Wednesday the hiring of former Maryland coach Erik Bakich as the new leader of the Wolverines’ baseball program. He will be formally introduced in a Thursday afternoon press conference.

Webb pulls in another Big Ten offer

Detroit (Mich.) Cass Tech defensive back Damon Webb has had a busy month. Just three weeks ago he pulled in his first scholarship offer from Toledo. After a strong showing at the Sound Mind Sound Body camp, Michigan and Michigan State promptly joined in with offers as well, which was followed by West Virginia and Ohio State. Yet another Big Ten school threw its hat into the ring on Tuesday.

Three from Pac-12 among future opponents

The University of Michigan announced several future non-conference opponents on Wednesday, including several games against the Pac 12. The Wolverines will play their first ever Thursday night game in 2015, with a season opener at Utah.  See the complete listing of future scheduled opponents.

In many respects, that team was probably not as good as previous squads that won as many or even fewer games.
