In February, the Wolverines signed a 27-member recruiting class, putting them over the 85 scholarship limit mandated by the NCAA. Earlier this week, freshman linebacker Kaleb Ringer announced his plans to transfer to another school, putting the Maize and Blue at the required mark for the fall. But looking ahead to 2014 recruiting, recent moves have also impacted Michigan’s scholarship numbers going forward.

Fans of the Maize and Blue are well familiar with the name Tyrone Wheatley. One of Michigan’s all-time greats at the running back position, he accounted for more than 5,000 all-purpose yards and 54 touchdowns in his time in Ann Arbor. His son, Tyrone Wheatley Jr. of Manilus (NY) Fayetteville Manlius, is quickly establishing himself as one of the top prospects for the 2015 class.
