First half offensive burst propels Michigan to win

Michigan and Marquette were tied 15-15 through the first eight minutes of play on Thursday evening in Madison Square Garden, but the Wolverines’ offense caught fire, scoring the next nine points and ultimately claiming a 24 point halftime lead. The Golden Eagles chipped that advantage down to just 12 points in the second half, but the Maize and Blue finish strong in the final five minutes, claiming a 79-61 victory.

Michigan rides run before half to drop IUPUI

The Wolverines will travel to New York this week for a tougher challenge in the 2K Classic, but their second matchup of the event, a home showing against IUPUI, wasn’t as easy as some might have expected. Trailing for a significant portion of the first half, Michigan finally caught fire just before the break, putting together a 13-0 run, ultimately leading to a 77-65 victory.

Wolverines roll in exhibition opener

Getting in a warmup before the start of the regular season in a week, the Wolverines played host to Armstrong State on Friday evening, working through the typical rust that accumulates during the long offseason. Michigan struggled to shoot from long range early, and had troubles turning the ball over in the second half, but still came out on top 77-49 in the contest.

The Michigan basketball team will start the season in a week, but will get a warmup opportunity on Friday evening while playing host to Armstrong State in exhibition play. Heading into that matchup, head coach John Beilein, as well as senior Zak Irvin and junior D.J. Wilson, talked about the progress in early practices and more.
