Wolverines bounce back as shooting warms up at home

The Michigan basketball team went through a series of highs and lows in just a week’s time, putting forward dominant performances against Marquette and SMU in the 2K Classic in New York, but following it with an abysmal performance at South Carolina the day before Thanksgiving. On Saturday evening, they were able to bounce back from that rough showing, defeating Mount. St. Mary’s 64-47.

Michigan shooting goes cold in loss at S.C.

Coming off an impressive pair of games in New York last week against Marquette and SMU, the Wolverines rose into the top-25 in the polls. Their trip to South Carolina on Wednesday though was a sober reminder that there is still work to be done, falling 61-46 in the contest.

Michigan storms past SMU for win

Michigan’s trip to New York for the 2K Classic championship round was supposed to provide a tougher challenge than the Wolverines faced in their first two games, but that’s not the way things played out. The day after solidly thumping Marquette, the Maize and Blue put forward another very strong effort, this time dropping SMU 76-54.

First half offensive burst propels Michigan to win

Michigan and Marquette were tied 15-15 through the first eight minutes of play on Thursday evening in Madison Square Garden, but the Wolverines’ offense caught fire, scoring the next nine points and ultimately claiming a 24 point halftime lead. The Golden Eagles chipped that advantage down to just 12 points in the second half, but the Maize and Blue finish strong in the final five minutes, claiming a 79-61 victory.

Michigan rides run before half to drop IUPUI

The Wolverines will travel to New York this week for a tougher challenge in the 2K Classic, but their second matchup of the event, a home showing against IUPUI, wasn’t as easy as some might have expected. Trailing for a significant portion of the first half, Michigan finally caught fire just before the break, putting together a 13-0 run, ultimately leading to a 77-65 victory.
