Michigan stormed out of the gate fast on Thursday evening, but would take a lot more than the initial surge to get past Southern Mississippi. Despite building up a 14 point advantage early, the Wolverines trailed at halftime, needing a huge run in the second half to secure a 61-47 victory.

Wolverines push past test from CMU

Michigan moved to 2-0 on the season Monday evening, but neither of the first two outings have been easy. The Wolverines carried just a three point advantage into the final seven minutes against Central Michigan, surging forward with a 6-0 run at that time, and holding on to a 72-65 victory.

Wolverines pull away late to win hoops opener

It wasn’t the prettiest first 30 minutes of a season opener that Michigan has ever had on Saturday evening, knotted up in a close battle with a North Florida team that had previously lost to Michigan State in a blowout. The Wolverines found their footing though late, stringing together a 21-2 run down the stretch on the way to an 86-66 victory.

Matthews leads Michigan in exhibition win

The Wolverines welcomed five new faces to the court on Friday evening, including three freshmen and two transfers, and it didn’t take long for one among that group to stand out. Joining an otherwise familiar group of starters, Charles Matthews exploded out of the gate, helping to propel Michigan to an 82-50 exhibition win over Grand Valley State.
