U-M climbs in polls, B1G Tournament set, three honored

The Wolverines closed out the regular season on a five-game win streak, and the final regular season release of the polls reflected that progress. Meanwhile, the Big Ten Tournament field was officially set with the conclusion of play, and the conference announced its top players, honoring three in the Maize and Blue.

Wolverines ride first half surge to win at Maryland

Michigan’s first meeting against Maryland required a pair of Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman free throws with one second remaining to lock up the victory. Playing on the road Saturday afternoon in the regular season finale, the outcome wasn’t nearly as dramatic. The Wolverines built up an insurmountable 30-point advantage in the first half, cruising to an 85-61 win.

Wolverines hold off Penn State for road victory

Leading by as many as 13 points in the first half, the Wolverines lost momentum to Penn State just before the break, and saw their advantage completely dissolve early in the second half. Faced with the challenge of halting that swing in the tide of the game, Michigan held on and reasserted itself midway through the second half, once again pulling ahead and locking up a 72-63 victory.

Michigan knocks off Ohio State in home finale

Early in the season, before non-conference play was even completed, the Wolverines let a big lead slip away in Columbus, falling to their rival Ohio State. On Sunday, they got chance for revenge, and the opportunity to end their home slate with a win. Michigan did just that, knocking off the No. 8 Buckeyes 74-62.

Wolverines roll past Iowa

Michigan went through a rough couple minutes to start Wednesday evening’s meeting with Iowa, surrendering the first seven points of the game. From that point on though, the Wolverines took over, grabbing a double-digit advantage in the first half and cruising to a 74-59 victory.
