Three national all-star games will take place on Friday and Saturday, featuring 10 Michigan commitments, plus several other prospects of note. Players such as Mike McCray and Chris Fox will not participate because of injury, while Channing Stribling and Kyle Bosch pulled out from the Semper Fidelis game. Michigan Commitments Participating

Shane Morris Warren, MI 6-3, 185 pounds QB, #12 - White Comments: Morris is one of the most physically gifted quarterbacks in the nation, but carries the reputation of not always being consistent. The all-star game will give him a chance to show that he can perform well against top competition. Morris missed half of his senior season while suffering from mono. David Dawson Detroit, MI 6-4, 285 pounds OL, #55 - White Comments: Dawson has excellent physical skills, but still has room to grow in developing technique. One of the more interesting things to watch in any all-star game is how well offensive linemen adjust to facing off against players their own size, where technique becomes more important. Logan Tuley-Tillman Peoria, IL 6-7, 300 pounds OL, #72 - White Comments: Tuley-Tillman struggled with conditioning during the off-season and saw his rankings drop from his performance in the camp circuit. Since that time, he has improved his physique significantly, and should be better able to perform in this setting.  Patrick Kugler Wexford, PA 6-5, 280 pounds OL, #57 - White Comments: Among Michigan’s highest rated commitments, fans will want to keep a close eye on Kugler in the game to see how ready he is for the college game. The Wolverines had three true freshmen listed on the depth chart this season, and with several departures, that will be the case in 2013 as well. Henry Poggi Baltimore, MD 6-4, 260 pounds DT, #17 - White Comments: Poggi is slated to play defensive tackle at the next level, but at 260 pounds, he is still somewhat undersized. The all-star game will be a chance to see how his quickness translates against top offensive linemen. Mike McCray Trotwood, OH 6-2, 225 pounds LB, #9 - White Comments: McCray has attended the Under Armour practices and will be on the sidelines at the game, but will not participate in the contest due to an injured labrum which he recently had surgically repaired.

Michigan Recruits Participating

Leon McQuay III Seffner, FL 6-2, 185 pounds DB, #22 - Black Comments: McQuay made an official visit to Michigan for the Wolverines’ overtime win over Northwestern and continues to list the Maize and Blue as an option. He will announce his decision during the game between Michigan, Vanderbilt, Southern Cal, Florida State and Oregon. Cameron Hunt Corona, CA 6-4, 265 pounds OL, #78 - White Comments: Hunt committed to Cal in July, but has set up an official visit to Michigan for the weekend of Jan. 11. He also plans to visit Oregon. He would be considered a long-shot at this point, but if the visit takes place, it could affect his recruitment. Laquon Treadwell Crete, IL 6-3, 195 pounds WR, #4 - White Comments: It might be a bit of a stretch to still include Treadwell in the recruits section and not with the “Other Prospects of Note,” but we’ll leave him here for now on the off chance Michigan is able to make a late push. The Wolverines once led, but have all but fallen off the board for the talented wide receiver.

Ross Douglas Avon, OH 5-10, 180 pounds CB, #6 - East Comments: Douglas is set to enroll early at Michigan to go through spring practices, but will get a preview of going against college talent in the all-star game. Among the players he will face off against is Devon Allen, who Michigan also offered early in the process. Maurice Hurst Jr. Westwood, MA 6-2, 290 pounds DT, #50 - East Comments: The son of former New England Patriots defensive back Maurice Hurst Sr., the young athlete has a very different build. Slated to play defensive tackle in college, he actually sees work running the ball at the high school level.

Jourdan Lewis Detroit, MI 5-10, 160 pounds CB, #27 West Comments: Lewis is an exceptionally smooth and athletic cornerback, but the Army Game will present an interesting challenge as he tries to take on much bigger and more physically developed receivers. The specialized rules favor the offense in these games, so if he performs well, it will mean a lot. Dymonte Thomas Alliance, OH 6-2, 190 pounds S, #14 - East Comments: Thomas is another early enrollee for Michigan, planning to room with Ross Douglas when he starts college in January. One of Michigan’s earliest commitments to the class, he is also one of the highest rated. Jake Butt Pickerington, OH 6-6, 235 pounds TE, #87 - East Comments: Michigan played two true freshmen tight ends in 2012, but with the graduation of Mike Kwiatkowski and Brandon Moore, Butt may also have a shot at early playing time. The all-star game will be an excellent chance for him to get his feet wet against top athletes before enrolling in January. Chris Fox Parker, CO 6-6, 300 pounds OL, #73 - West Comments: Fox is in San Antonio, but much like McCray, he will not be able to participate in the all-star game because of injury. Fox has a torn ACL, which will prevent him from taking part in activities.

Derrick Green Richmond, VA 6-0, 220 pounds RB, #27 - East Comments: The one that will certainly get Michigan fans to tune in, the Wolverines stand an excellent shot at the nation’s top runner, who may or may not announce during the game. Even if he does not, it could be an early chance to see what the powerful rusher has to offer.
