Wolverines leap ahead in both polls

Riding a nine game win streak and Big Ten Tournament Championship, Michigan saw its stock rise significantly in the national polls Monday, jumping ahead into the top 10.

The Wolverines moved ahead eight spots in the Associated Press Poll, up to No. 7, climbing six spots in the USA Today Coaches Poll, also landing in the No. 7 spot.

As for the teams Michigan beat to make that move, Michigan State slid two places to No. 4 in the AP and three spots to No. 5 in the Coaches Poll, while Purdue dropped two levels in each poll to come in at No. 10.

Also in the Big Ten, Ohio State dropped four spots with Associated Press voters, coming in at No. 17, while landing at No. 16 in the Coaches Poll after dropping two places.

Going into the Big Ten Tournament, projections had the Wolverines earning at 4-6 seed in the NCAA Tournament, which was likely improved by their perfect run and claim to the title. The seeding for the NCAA Tournament will be announced March 11.
