Chase Winovich will return for one final season at Michigan. The fourth-year defensive end had been considering his option to leave early for the NFL Draft, but announced on Twitter Wednesday morning that he will be back for another season in Ann Arbor.

A native of Jefferson Hills, Pa., Winovich was originally recruited to Michigan as a linebacker, Winovich moved to tight end for Jim Harbaugh’s first year as head coach, finally finding his home at defensive end in 2016. He saw action primarily as a backup Taco Charlton, starting in two games.

Winovich finally had a true breakout season in 2017, recording 18 tackles for a loss, including eight sacks, and earning first-team all-Big Ten honors from the media.
