The Wolverines went on a 24-6 run at Iowa midway through the first half on Tuesday evening, pulling ahead by 16 points and grabbing an early stranglehold on the lead. Despite several attempts by the Hawkeyes to climb back into the game, Michigan seemed to have an answer in each instance, ultimately claiming a 75-68 victory.

Zavier Simpson had a strong game with 15 points, seven assists and two steals, while Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman almost perfectly matched those numbers with 15 points, six assists and two steals.

True freshman Isaiah Livers had a career high 13 points, making all three of his shots from beyond the arc, and Charles Matthews added 14 to the Wolverines’ scoring effort.

Michigan improved to 13-3 on the season and 2-1 in Big Ten play. The Wolverines will play host to Illinois on Saturday at noon with television coverage provided by Big Ten Network.
