Michigan climbs one spot in AP and coaches polls

The Wolverines were not without their flaws in a 36-14 victory over Cincinnati on Saturday, struggling to find consistency on offense for a significant portion of the game. Despite any flaws that may have been uncovered, Michigan continued to climb in the rankings, jumping ahead of Ohio State in both the Associated Press Poll and USA Today/Amway Coaches Poll.

In each, the Wolverines moved up one spot to No. 7.

The Buckeyes fell from No. 2 in each poll to No. 8 in the AP and No. 9 in the Coaches Poll after suffering a fourth quarter collapse in a 31-16 loss to Oklahoma.

The Sooners made a big jump as a result of that game, dropping Penn State one spot to No. 5 in each poll. Wisconsin also fell one place in each poll, coming in at No. 11 in the Associated Press and No. 12 in the Coaches Poll.

Those four teams remained the headliners out of the Big Ten, with Maryland, Minnesota, Iowa and Michigan State getting votes as well.
