Wolverines land surprise commitment
Written by Matt Pargoff

While much of the focus of the Michigan coaching staff is no doubt on the start of fall in less than a week, the recruiting process never ends, leading to a surprise commitment on Tuesday evening. Hamden (Conn.) Hall tight end/athlete Luke Schoonmaker announced his pledge to the Maize and Blue, becoming 11th verbal pledge to the 2018 class.

Standing in at 6-6, 225 pounds, Schoonmaker has flown under the radar in recruiting circles, garnering a three-star rating on Scout and 247 Sports, while remaining unranked on Rivals and ESPN. He selected Michigan over scholarship offers from Temple, Indiana, Rutgers, Connecticut and others.

Schoonmaker plays quarterback in high school, but is projected to play at a position such as tight end when he makes the move to the next level.
