The Wolverines 2018 class is still in just the early stages of unfolding, but added a significant addition on Tuesday evening, grabbing a pledge from Dearborn (Mich.) Divine Child defensive end Aidan Hutchinson, son of former Michigan great Chris Hutchinson.
“I would like to thank my family for guiding and supporting me along this recruiting process,” Aidan posted on Twitter. “Also, a special thanks to all of my Devine Child coaches for assisting me in this journey. I am so humbled and grateful to all the schools that have shown interest in me. But, I am ready to end this recruiting process and focus on this upcoming season.
“I am blessed to say that I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at the University of Michigan.”
Standing in at 6-5, 235 pounds, Hutchinson selected the Wolverines over scholarship offers from Michigan State, Nebraska, Wisconsin, LSU, Louisville, Boston College and others. He is rated as a four-star prospect by ESPN, 247 Sports and Scout, coming in as a three-star on Rivals. He is ranked highest by ESPN, coming in as the No. 11 defensive end nationally and the No. 94 overall prospect, and by 247 Sports, which has him as the No. 5 strong side end and the No. 97 overall player.
Hutchinson’s commit brings Michigan to three pledges for the 2018 class, joining offensive lineman Emil Ekiyor and linebacker Otis Reese.
