The Wolverines welcomed a late addition to the 2017 recruiting class on Monday evening with Iowa City (Iowa) West Senior wide receiver Oliver Martin announcing his plans to play for the Maize and Blue.

“First of all, I want to give a big thank you to all the incredible football programs that have recruited me,” Martin wrote on Twitter. “I have met some amazing people during this process and I appreciate all of them greatly. Second, I owe my parents, grandparents, coaches, friends and family a tremendous amount of gratitude for everything they do for me and for helping guide me through this process. Lastly, I am proud and excited to announce my commitment to play football for the University of Michigan! Go Blue!”

Standing in at 6-1, 185 pounds, he picked Michigan over scholarship offers from Notre Dame, Ohio State, Iowa, Michigan State, Auburn, Florida, Oregon, UCLA and others. Rated as a four-star prospect by all four major recruiting services, Martin ranks highest on 247 Sports, which has him as the No. 7 wide receiver in the nation and the No. 47 overall prospect.

Martin is the fourth new wide receiver that will join the Wolverines in 2017, joined by Donovan Peoples-Jones, Tarik Black and Brad Hawkins. His pledge brings Michigan up to 27 total commitments for the 2017 class, with 11 already enrolled and the rest set to sign on Wednesday.
