Michigan players on national watch lists

Michigan junior running back Fitzgerald Toussaint is one of 52 players on the Doak Walker Award watch list released on Thursday. Toussaint had a breakout season last year, rushing for 1,128 yards and 10 touchdowns on 195 carries.

Presented to the nation’s top running back, only Chris Perry in 2003 has won the award on behalf of the Maize and Blue. The 23rd annual Doak Walker Award winner will be announced on Dec. 6 on the Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards Show.

In addition to Toussaint, several other Wolverines have received recognition on the national watch lists this summer. See the complete listing below.

-Maxwell Award – Awarded to the most outstanding college football player.

-Doak Walker Award – Presented to the nation’s top running back.

• QB Denard Robinson

-Maxwell Award – Awarded to the most outstanding college football player.

-Davey O'Brien Award – Given to the nation’s top quarterback.

• OT Taylor Lewan

-Outland Trophy – Presented to the top interior lineman in the nation.

-Rotary Lombardi Award – Given to the nation's top down lineman or linebacker.

• S Jordan Kovacs

-Bronko Nagurski Trophy – Awarded to the nation's best defensive player.

• WR Roy Roundtree

-Biletnikoff Award – Presented to the top wide receiver in college football.

• LB Kenny Demens

-Rotary Lombardi Award – Presented to the nation's top down lineman or linebacker.

• K Brendan Gibbons

-Lou Groza Award – Given to the top collegiate place kicker.
