While the Big Ten loses all five 2011 first-team all-conference selections from the offensive line, there are still several players of note returning. Among them, Michigan junior left tackle Taylor Lewan, who has started each of the last two seasons for the Wolverines.

Decision timeframe continues to shift for Treadwell

Monee wide receiver Laquon Treadwell has been a tough chore for fans of the recruiting process, with regular shifting on when he will make a choice. The 6-3, 185 pound athlete admits that he has at times felt rushed to cut down his list, but he has settled in on a plan for how his recruitment will proceed.

Caught in the numbers crunch

With only 20 scholarship slots available at present for the 2013 recruiting class and 18 commitments in tow, it was inevitable that Michigan would pull back on recruiting some positions. One recruit explained that he is no longer looking at the Maize and Blue for exactly that reason.

While the conference loses its top two tight ends in Drake Dunsmore of Northwestern and Brian Linthicum of Michigan State, several players return that could be primed for big seasons in 2012. Wisconsin continues its run of top offensive skill players, laying claim now to the Big Ten’s best running back, wide receiver and tight end.

Rich Maloney out as head baseball coach


Michigan athletic director David Brandon announced Tuesday that the athletic department and head baseball coach Rich Maloney had reached an agreement not to extend his contract, which comes to an end in June of this year.
