Wolverine turnovers lead to 13-6 defeat at Notre Dame

Michigan outmatched Notre Dame in both yards and first downs, but six turnovers and failed trips to the redzone helped propel the Fighting Irish to a 13-6 win over Michigan. The Wolverines drop to 2-2 on the season, while Notre Dame improves to a perfect 4-0. The game marks the third victory in a row for Notre Dame over a Big Ten opponent.

On this date in Michigan history – Sept. 22

Throughout American history there are a handful of dates that have shaped the course of our nation – September 11, 2001 is one of them.  At 8:46 a.m., the lives of every American changed.  When the day was over, nearly 3,000 American lives were lost.  Four days later, Michigan was scheduled to host a football game against Western Michigan.

Big Ten preview – One big game

A week ago, there were some great non-conference matchups for the Big Ten and the league represented itself moderately well. Ten teams claimed victory, while Michigan State fell to Notre Dame and Indiana lost to Ball State. Looking at this week’s schedule, the conference should win nearly as many games, but fans of quality matchups will be the real losers.

The 411: Notre Dame Fighting Irish

On November 22, 1887 the University of Michigan’s fifteen member football team, led by team captain John L. Duffy, boarded a late train in Ann Arbor bound for Niles, Michigan.  From there they planned to travel south across the state line to South Bend, Indiana.  It was a trip of roughly 180 miles and the beginning of a 125 year journey known today as Notre Dame Football.
