Lewan expecting improved line play after bye

While Michigan’s offense struggled to put points on the board against Notre Dame before the bye week, both coaches and players were encouraged by one aspect of the play on that side of the ball. Excluding sacks, 105 of the Wolverines’ 145 rushing yards came in the second half. That improvement and the action that inspired it is one senior left tackle Taylor Lewan feels will carry over in the future.

Michigan loses ground in polls during bye week

Normally when a team has a bye week, there is a slight positive shift in the national polls as teams in front of them lose or the squad holds its ground. However, with the loss to Notre Dame being the lasting memory forpollsters, Michigan actually dropped in rankings. A week ago, the Wolverines came in at No. 28 in votes in both the AP and USA Today Coaches’ Polls. Without playing, they have slipped several spots in both.

Updated depth chart for Purdue


Michigan and Purdue begin Big Ten play a week behind the rest of the conference with the Wolverines coming off a bye and the Boilermakers completing their non-conference schedule with a win over Marshall. Saturday's matchup in West Lafayette at 4:00 p.m. ET will be the Wolverines' third game away from home and mark the fourth contest Purdue has hosted this season.
