Report: U-M offering to make Harbaugh highest paid

The veracity of this report has not yet been determined, but if accurate, it would certainly confirm that the Wolverines aren’t afraid to spend in order to get their top head football coaching option. According to Joe Pequeno, a reporter for KPHO-TV, a CBS affiliate out of Phoenix, Ariz., Michigan has offered Jim Harbaugh a six-year, $49 million contract.

Michael Ferns transferring to West Virginia

Linebacker Michael Ferns was the first player to declare his intentions to join Michigan’s 2015 class, playing an active role in recruiting others. He revealed this week that he would be the first in the group leave Ann Arbor as well, announcing his plans to transfer to West Virginia.

U-M offers update on search firm and process

It’s a bit unusual for a school to offer an update on the course of hiring a new coach while that process is still underway, but then, the Wolverines typically take a bit longer to make their hires than others. On Friday morning, the Michigan media relations department offered a brief update.

Michigan doesn’t know yet who will lead the football program in 2015, but the foundation is already place for where that head coach will start. While the defense was fairly strong in the fall, the offense was the underlying fault that led to a disappointing season.
