Csont'e York dismissed from football program

Just as fall camp started, Michigan announced that sophomore wide receiver Csont'e York was indefinitely suspended from the program for failing to meet team standards. The suspension stemmed from an alleged assault that took place on July 18 outside of Scorekeepers Bar and Grille. While head coach Brady Hoke initially stated he would allow the legal process to play out, he released a statement Monday evening stating that York is no longer with the team.

One of the most difficult things about watching a team practice against itself can be determining exactly the meaning of a mismatch. Is one group ahead of the other because it’s so good, or is a lopsided engagement proof that the other side is particularly weak? The Wolverines’ open scrimmage on Saturday may not have given the definitive answer on that question, but it certainly seemed to point to a familiar problem.

Wolverines start unranked in both polls

Coming off a disappointing season and with major questions on the offensive line, it should come as no surprise that the Wolverines haven’t garnered much respect in the national preseason rankings. The USA Today Coaches’ Poll came out at the end of July, with the Wolverines garnering 32nd most points. On Sunday, the Associated Press released its top-25, with Michigan coming in at No. 37.
