Hoops schedule continues to expand

Fresh off its trip to the NCAA Finals, the Michigan basketball program will head into the 2013-14 season with a lot of excitement and optimism. The Wolverines return all but two of the squad’s major contributors, and the incoming freshman class is expected to provide some additional help. While the complete schedule for the upcoming season will not be released from some months, news has been trickling out some of the opponents the Maize and Blue will face.

Robinson, McGary announce return to Michigan


Over the stretch of just a few days, Michigan was dealt two serious blows, with top two scorers Trey Burke and Tim Hardaway Jr. each deciding to forego their eligibility and head to the NBA. On Thursday afternoon, the news for Maize and Blue faithful was much better, with true freshmen Mitch McGary and Glenn Robinson III each announcing their return for another year.

Over a four day stretch, the Wolverines lost their top-two scorers from each of the last two seasons, with guards Trey Burke and Tim Hardaway each deciding to make an early run at the NBA. Departure shifts focus to LeVert, freshmen

Veteran guard Tim Hardaway Jr. announced on Wednesday that he would forego his senior year at Michigan to move on to the NBA. In the wake of the news, the attention of many shifted true freshman Caris LeVert, who was Hardaway’s primary backup during the season and the player with the inside track to claim the job in the fall.

Hardaway announces his departure

A mainstay of the Michigan basketball team over the last three seasons, veteran guard Tim Hardaway Jr. was the Wolverines’ second leading scorer in each year he played in Ann Arbor. On Wednesday afternoon he announced that he was taking his game to the next level, declaring his intentions to enter the NBA Draft and forego his senior year of eligibility.
